A Valentine Treat for the Whole Class!
PATTI'S FAVORITE CLASSROOM VALENTINE TREAT
When Patti Guthrie, our Customer Service Manager, used to bring treats to her children's classroom on Valentine's Day, this was their all-time favorite.
Golden Baked Caramel Popcorn
Fills at least two cookie sheets
5 qts popped popcorn (set aside)
Cook to firm ball stage:
1 cup real butter
2 cups brown sugar
½ cup light corn syrup
1 tsp salt
Then add ½ tsp baking soda (this makes it foam a bit).
Mix in with popcorn and place on shallow, buttered cookie sheets. Bake at 225 degrees for 45-50 minutes. It's yummy with pecan halves and almonds. Just toss them with the popcorn; then add the caramel mixture. Fills at least two cookie sheets.
For Valentine's Day parties, Patti would wrap handfuls of the popcorn in rose-colored plastic wrap and use ribbons to tie the individual bundles.
